Olive oil, for the pan

1/2 lb.

ground beef

1 tsp.

taco seasoning

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

slices cheddar

Shredded lettuce, for serving 

Pickles, for serving

1/2 c.

mayonnaise

2 tbsp.

yellow mustard

1 tbsp.

ketchup

1 tbsp.

pickle relish

2 tsp.

apple cider vinegar

1/2 tsp.

garlic powder

1/3 tsp.

onion powder

1/4 tsp.

paprika

1/4 tsp.

kosher salt

Steps:

  • Make tacos: In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat oil. Add ground beef and cook, breaking meat up with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, 4 minutes. Drain fat. Return meat to skillet and add taco seasoning and season with salt and pepper. Separate hamburger buns and, using a rolling pin, roll out hamburger buns to ¼" thick. Place a slice of cheese on top of each bun and fold like a taco. Place buns in a toaster and toast until cheese is melty and buns hold their shape, 3 minutes. Make sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, yellow mustard, ketchup, pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and salt. Build tacos: Add lettuce, pickles, and taco meat to shells, then drizzle with sauce.

It's been years since I've eaten a Big Mac™ hamburger. Here's our taco version! ;) If desired, you can shape the ground hamburger into little "baby burgers" and either pan fry or bake. Includes a simplified, homemade recipe for the Special Sauce, too. All ingredient amounts are estimated as are the servings. ¡Viva Takos Tuesday!

1 tablespoon(s) oil, for frying
1 pound(s) ground beef
1/2 tablespoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon(s) salt-free garlic powder
8 - corn tortilla shells, approximately
SPECIAL SAUCE:
1/2 cup(s) mayonnaise
2 tablespoon(s) ketchup
1/2 teaspoon(s) onion powder
1-2 teaspoon(s) white vinegar
4 teaspoon(s) sweet pickle relish
1/2 tablespoon(s) sugar
pinch(es) salt
2 tablespoon(s) water or milk
1/4 teaspoon(s) black pepper
BIG MAC TOPPINGS:
- lettuce leaves (spinach, iceberg, mixed greens, etc.)
- grated cheddar cheese
- bread and butter pickles
- diced onion
- white or brown sesame seeds
- homemade special sauce™
- sliced tomatoes (i think the small grape sized tomatoes are best for this recipe)
- fresh cilantro, minced
- hot sauce or fresh chili peppers, minced

Steps:

  • Prepare the Special Sauce, cover and refrigerate until ready to eat.
  • Heat up the oil in a pan and cook the ground meat until no longer pink. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and the garlic powder the final few minutes of browning.
  • Place about scant 1/4 cup of the browned meat in each taco shell. Add a spoonful of the Special Sauce then garnish with the Big Mac toppings.
